New York band The Big Takeover have been bringing sharing their unique blend of ska and reggae around the Hudson Valley since 2008. In January of 2014, the released their second album entitled “Children of the Rhythm.” ReadJunk has a great review of this very danceable record. Recently, they posted a video for “Dolphins” off that record. The track is a superbly relaxing reggae jam, and the video finds them running around upstate New York and the scenery is just stunning, perfectly fitting the music. Vocalist Nee Nee Rushie has this soothing quality in her voice that just draws you in. 30 seconds in and I almost forgot about the snow piling up outside my window. It’s no wonder the video was named Video of the Month by Ready Steady Ska. Watch below:
Their album “Children of the Rhythm” can be bought on iTunes, CD Baby, and the band’s web store. Like them on Facebook, follow them on Twitter, subscribe to their YouTube channel, and hear more tracks on Soundcloud.
