If you’ve been following the news, Boston punk/ska band Darkbuster have had quite a busy few weeks. With the announcement of No Revolution (the band’s first full length album since 2005’s A Weakness For Spirits), and the subsequent string of comeback shows that took place last week, Lenny and Co. brought an energy that suggested their hiatus was solely spent amassing power (like, some Dragonball Z shit) to be unleashed for these shows. Not surprisingly, Boston reacted with the fervent style we are known for; most of the announced shows sold out in a frustratingly small amount of time, and the crowds at these shows were some of the rowdiest we’ve ever seen.
In previous posts we’ve mentioned several Boston-based Youtubers coming forth with footage of the Darkbuster’s Great Scott and Sinclair shows. Recently, video of the band’s full set from their Portland, Maine show with El Grande, The Outsiders and Roots Rhythm And Dub became available on Youtube, courtesy of Keith Kennedy (@grubbylinecook). Check out the four-part series below.
No Revolution is currently available digitally or physically as a compact disc via Pirates Press Records, with a vinyl release scheduled for September 4th. Check out our Boston Ska Event Calendar for more upcoming local shows.
