Veteran 2-tone ska band The English Beat have announced a show at Johnny D’s in Somerville on Saturday, May 2nd. Opening for them will be local favorites The Allstonians, and while all table areas are sold out, general admission tickets are still available, and can be found here. The Davis Square restaurant and nightclub has become a usual haunt for The English Beat, as the band has played there at least once a year for the past few years (we’ve reported on them before, here and here but not here). With that level of recurrence, it’s a safe assumption that if you are reading this right now that you have already seen the Beat at Johnny D’s before, and you know to expect a great time. Get your ticket soon before the show sells out!
In the event that the show does sell out before you can snag a ticket, The English Beat will return to the area (generally speaking of course, when we say “area” we really mean “region of the country”) on August 6th and 7th to play the Tupelo Music Hall in Londonderry, New Hampshire. Those of you hoping to see the band at a lower ticket price are out of luck, as these shows have the same price ($35 and up) as May’s Johnny D’s show. As of yet, no openers have been announced, and tickets can be found on the Tupelo Music Hall’s website (here for the 6th, here for the 7th).
Below, check out The English Beat playing “Gimme The Ska” at Johnny D’s back in 2012. As always, check our show calendar for more upcoming shows in the Boston area.
Tupelo Music Hall shows have also been quick Sell Outs. Don’t wait to secure tickets.
