Darkbuster have released two new songs this week, in what appears to be a return from the hiatus the band went on in 2006, after the release of their last full length A Weakness For Spirits in 2005.
The first, titled “No Fear”, is a full band jam that the band recorded for Volume 5 of the Oi! This Is Streetpunk compilation series, which is presumably Now! That’s What I Call Music but more for people with tattoos outside of the “shooting star on left ankle” demographic. Clocking in at under two minutes, the track seems like it would fit naturally on Weakness, despite it coming out almost a decade later. As a result, this track is easy to get into for fans of the band and displays Darkbuster’s signature sound.
The second track, “Believe In Packer”, is performed solo acoustic by guitarist/vocalist Lenny Lashley. Lashley, who has recently done solo work as Lenny Lashley’s Gang of One, premiered the track as part of an acoustic session for punk blog/news site Dying Scene while on tour as a member of the Street Dogs. Additionally, the session also contained a song titled “Live Like Lions“, intended to be a song by Lenny Lashley’s Gang Of One.
Check out both tunes below, and check back for more Darkbuster news in what could hopefully be the end of the band’s lengthy hiatus.
